ROGATSIA, THE SENSE OF ZOURNA

In the heart of Macedonia, at the plain that lays between the palaces of Alexander the great, over the recent years an old custom revives during the Christmas period. The sound of zourna dominates the air. Resists the time stubbornly and evolves an ancient tradition of Greek, Balkan and world music.

Yiannis Koufonikos is a Lecturer in Film and Television Production at Edge Hill University. He holds a BA Hons in Films studies and MSc in Technologies of Sound and Image Processing. He is a multi-skilled professional with great experience in the field of media. As a freelance filmmaker he have been involved in a wide variety of projects and have worked on a large number of documentaries, TV entertainment programmes, shorts and feature films, music videos, commercial spots and educational videos.
